Wills & Trusts

WHY DO YOU NEED A WILL?

You have an “estate” if you own a home, vacation or investment property, life insurance or other possessions such as a car, jewelry or other household items.  As such, you should have an estate plan in place to designate who will inherit this property.  A proper estate plan ensures that your property and financial stake is distributed to your children and loved ones in accordance with your final wishes.

An estate plan is a must, if you have minor children, or other dependents. The best action you can take for your loved ones is to establish a well thought out and legally binding estate plan.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WILL AND A TRUST?

A Will is an instrument that instructs your executor to distribute your property, per your wishes, at the time of your death.  A Trust is established to provide legal protection for your assets, to make sure those assets are distributed according to your wishes, and to, in some cases, avoid or reduce inheritance or estate taxes.
